Father John Hourican is the interim President and CEO of CCWTN. Fr. Hourican was ordained a priest in June of 2005. After his ordination, he served two years as a Parochial Vicar at St. Francis Catholic Church in Cordova and then in a similar capacity for two years at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett. In 2009, Fr. Hourican was made the pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Covington, Tennessee and Ave Maria Catholic Church in Ripley, Tennessee. He has served as pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Downtown Memphis since June of 2013.
Fr. Hourican grew up in Memphis graduating from Christian Brothers High School in 1983. He graduated with honors from the University of Memphis in 1987 with a degree in Accounting. He spent most of his business career with Buckman Laboratories before moving to New Orleans where he entered seminary in 1999. After studying philosophy for two years and theology for four years he graduated with honors from Notre Dame Seminary in May 2005. Fr. Hourican's experience with St. Mary's Soup Kitchen has exposed him to the needs of the poor and homeless in Memphis as well as the challenges of ministering to the needs of the people this community. This experience has helped prepare him for the position of leading Catholic Charities of West Tennessee and has given him an appreciation of the programs and services Catholic Charities provides their clients. As an interim President Fr. Hourican plans to continue this important work until a permanent President can be found.
