Extended Child Care Services
Prior to the end of the school year parents ask
What will the children do this summer?
Answer:
SUMMER CAMPS
sponsored by Catholic Charities of West TN
For many parents it is a major task to find a quality summer camp that is affordable, developmentally appropriate and convenient.
For more than 25 years, Catholic Charities has been a leader in the West Tennessee area as a provider of quality child care.
During the summer of 2010, Catholic Charities will operate three camps - St Louis Camp, Immaculate Conception Camp, and Camp Love and Learn.
Catholic Charities Camps are exceptional because they offer more than “sunburns”. The environment will say “Yes” to each child and invite them to touch, explore, and get involved. Besides providing activities that are child friendly, and it encourages parent participation, the camps prove to be a fun place for children, while providing a variety of age appropriate, indoor and outdoor activities, including field trips to area attractions, educational exhibits and academic activities. The field trips and educational experiences are important because they provide lessons for the campers that challenge their minds and help them retain the information learned during the school year, in addition to acquiring additional knowledge through the learning experience that the camps will provide.
Weekly swim times continue to be one of the most popular attractions for the campers year after year. Camp curriculums are theme oriented, with planned activities that allow campers to share and display their special skills and talents. Each camp provide a variety of nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack food items.
Catholic Charities Camps provide eight to ten weeks of camping experiences for elementary through middle school children, Monday thru Friday.

What are the components of high-quality care for school-age children?
How can parents and others tell the quality of care being provided on a daily basis?
Catholic Charities' child care programs are constantly reaching for the heights. Now, however, they are Reaching for the Stars too, in the state of Tennessee's Quality Child Care Evaluation System.
The top rating using this system is three stars and includes a quality of care assessment using a School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS) for school-age programs.
The SACERS consists of 49 items, organized under 7 categories: Space & Furnishings, Health & Safety, Activities, Interactions, Program Structure, Staff Development, and Supplementary Items.
Virginia Davenport, Director of Child Care Services for Catholic Charities of West Tennessee , is pleased to announce that all of Catholic Charities of West Tennessee child care programs have received a three-star rating under this new system!
Ms. Davenport says that "Our staff work hard to maintain the highest levels of care for children.
When quality care and excellent service are a part of a program's daily routine, reaching the stars does not seem impossible."
