Catholic Charities of West Tennessee shared 6,000 pounds (three tons) of tomatoes with partners and customers last week, thanks to a collaboration with the Methodist Men of Collierville United Methodist Church. The collaboration of the two organizations enhances the donor network to benefit both agencies.
The tomatoes were donated by Scott Street Tomato House and were shared with Catholic Charities partner, St. Patrick Community Outreach, as well as the Dorothy Day House, the Salvation Army, the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, St. Peter’s Villa, the Memphis Union Mission, the Neighborhood Christian Centers, First Congregational Church, The St. Mary’s Catholic Church Soup Kitchen, the Missionaries of Charity and Berean Baptist Church.
“It’s just a phenomenal relationship, serving so many people throughout West Tennessee,” said Dick Hackett, executive director of Catholic Charities of West Tennessee.
Tommy Hart, a member of the Methodist men’s group said, “This collaboration is an answer to prayer as we look at expanding into West Tennessee.”
