Memphis has the second-highest poverty rate of any city in the United States with a population of more than one million. Nearly 25 percent of all residents live in poverty, and 39 percent of all children live in poverty.
Catholic Charities of West Tennessee serves the poor in Memphis and throughout West Tennessee by living out our mission: Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, we provide help to those in need and bring them hope by supporting them on the path from poverty to self-sufficiency.
We do this by providing food, clothing, shelter and solutions to those living in poverty.
By becoming a monthly donor to Catholic Charities, you can become a First Responder to Poverty and ensure that we have a consistent stream of funds to meet the varied needs of those who come to us for help -- seeking food for their children, clothing for a job interview, diapers for a newborn baby or asisstance in finding housing.
To become a First Responder, click on the DONATE tab at the top of the page and select the amount you would like to give monthly. Then check the box beneath First Responder. An automatic confirmation will be generated and sent to your email address.
