Catholic Charities of West Tennessee serves on the front lines of poverty every day in one of the poorest cities in the U.S. – where one in four people and nearly 40 percent of children live in poverty.
But we aren’t doing it alone. First Responders to Poverty make a real difference by committing to a monthly donation to Catholic Charities. Here is how they are helping:
The $20 donation could cover the cost of four women's hygiene kits, which are often requested by female clients experiencing homelessness.
The $30 donation could cover the cost of a week’s worth of food for a family of four from our food pantry.
The $50 donation could cover the cost of one night of temporary emergency housing for a client at our discounted rate.
The $100 donation could cover the cost of 40 walking bags. A walking bag is a day of nutrition neatly packed, which is usually given to clients experiencing homelessness. We typically give out 40 walking bags each day.
The $200 donation could cover the cost of one move-in kit per month for our Housing Ministry clients. Move-in kits include basic items, such as an inflatable mattress, sheets, bath and kitchen items.
Every gift touches someone in need and enables Catholic Charities to carry out the corporal works of mercy – feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, sheltering the homeless and clothing those in need.
