Basketballs, building blocks, baby dolls and bicycles: that is what Christmas is made of when you are a child.
Not being able to provide that for your child can feel devastating. Asking for assistance can be overwhelming. But Gifts for God’s Children allows Catholic Charities of West Tennessee to help families provide the joy of unexpected gifts to children in need, as well as Christmas food baskets for the whole family.
Catholic Charities can only do this with the help of many wonderful individuals and organizations who make this program part of their Christmas tradition every year.
We are so grateful to offer Gifts for God’s Children, which will help more than 200 families this Christmas. Catholic Charities organizes the program and partners with other organizations to get applications from families in need. But the donations and volunteer efforts of schools, churches and individuals make it possible. We would like to thank those organizations who have contributed, and please know that we are grateful for every single individual who is part of this wonderful tradition that allows us to Give Joy every year.
The Christmas food baskets are donated through the Soulfull Memphis Operation Christmas Basket program, chaired by Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland and The City of Memphis; Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris and Shelby County Government and the Gayle S. Rose and Team Max Foundation.
The following is a list of organizations that have donated toys, clothing or gift cards to Gifts for God’s Children this year: Madonna Circle, Hilton Worldwide, St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Benedict at Auburndale High School, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Agnes Academy, St. Peter Catholic Church, the Knights of St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Mary Catholic Church, St. William Catholic Church and St. Louis School.
Many hands make light work. We are grateful for all the helping hands that make Gifts for God’s Children possible.
