SNAP Benefits Program

SNAP Benefits Application Assistance through Catholic Charities of West Tennessee

Catholic Charities of West Tennessee will be assisting members of our community complete applications for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. In order to apply, please contact CCWTN staff via the email address or phone number below. Please include the following information with your initial contact: full name and phone number (including area code). After the initial information is received, a staff member will call you to begin your application.

To complete your application, you will need:

  • Social Security Number for every household member
  • Legal Identification (Example: driver's license, school ID with photo, Passport, Resident Alien Card, I-94 card, voter's registration card)
  • Residence (Example: lease agreement, utility bill, phone bill, or driver’s license with your address on it)
  • Income (Example: check stubs, employer statement, award letters)
  • Shelter costs (Example: mortgage payments, property tax, homeowner’s insurance, rent receipt, lease agreement)
  • Costs of utilities (Example: electric bill, water bill, gas bill)


1. How long does this process take?

  • This depends on how quickly the applicant provides all the necessary documents to the Department of Human Services.
  • Appointments are usually scheduled within 4 days of receipt of the application unless the customer indicates that they need a specific date and/or time.

2. Do I need to already have an account with the Department of Human Services?

  • No, CCWTN staff will create a DHS account during the application process.

3. What documents do I need to have before my application is approved?

  • See the list above for documents needed.

4. When will Catholic Charities begin my application?

  • After you contact Catholic Charities via email or phone, a staff member will call you to begin your application. The call will come from 901-722-4700. Please note that your application process may not begin on the same day that you contact Catholic Charities. Allow at least one business day for a staff member to contact you.


Final approval of benefits is made by Tennessee’s Department of Human Services (DHS), NOT Catholic Charities of West Tennessee. An application for benefits does not guarantee an award of assistance, and not all applicants will qualify.
